Happy Mother's Day, and hello again!

Hello, quilt-blog-land! Miss me?

*crickets chirping as everyone goes, "You were gone?"*

Hee! It looks (from catching up with blog posts) like I missed a bit of a quilting-world storm, but that's OK--I've had storm enough at home! (I'm not done with the semester yet, but since today is Mother's Day, I'm taking a breather. :)

In between the craziness, I've had just enough time to finish a couple things. First and foremost, I present:

TweetyGigs

TweetyGigs: Finished!

~70" x 88"
Fabric: Tweet Tweet by Keiki, Spirit by Lila Tueller, and Bella Solid Bleached White
Batting: Hobbs 80/20
Quilted at the Backyard Quilt Shop in a loose swirl with pale pink thread

Follow the cut for more TweetyGigs, and some mug rug goodness!

I was so excited with how this turned out!

Although I didn't get the best picture of the back, it gives you an idea...

TweetyGigs: The back

I tried the tube method for creating bias binding, and I think I did pretty well with it--but it'll take me some practice before I'm really comfortable doing it.

TweetyGigs: So much binding

And I adore that whirlygig block!

TA-DA!!!

TweetyGigs: The whole shebang

The biggest quilt I've ever made, and I'm so pleased with it. I guess we should probably get going on actually purchasing Z's big-girl bed, eh?

Here she is, the almost-four princess herself, flying on her tree swing:

Swinging high

She picked out some lovely flowers for me for Mother's Day:

I also had a great gift this weekend--my Mug Rug Swap Adventure partner Janet (who was very understanding of my lateness, and I thank her for that) sent me this beauty:

Mug Rug: From Janet

Isn't it gorgeous? Look at that quilting!

And it is the perfect thing for my sewing room--it even matches my sewing machine!

Ready to sew!

I made for her a Kitty-Inna-Flower-Garden:

I tried a few new things with this, and I hope Janet likes it! (Also, I'm instituting a new rule for myself: No swaps during the school year. Like, absolutely none.)

WHEW!!! That was quite the update! Which is what happens when you disappear for more than a month. *g*

I am so excited to get back into the sewing room! For summertime I'd like to finish the layer-cake sampler quilt, and I've got a jelly-roll quilt-along I'm doing with my MIL, and a queen-size quilt for our bed planned, so. I think I'll keep myself busy?

I hope all of you are doing well!

  1. Tweety Gigs turned out beautifully! Congratulations on a wondeful finish. Swaps can be fun but stressful - I've instituted a moratorium as well. Better for my mental health!

  12. (Hi! I'm running late on commenting ;))

That Tweety Gigs is amazing. I love how the white makes the colours really ping out of it, and it looks utterly fabulous. And the mug rug is so cool!

You're most inspiring. Maybe I'll cut into my first jelly roll this summer after all :)
