So I was so excited for the Layer Cake Quilt Along over at Moose on the Porch Quilts, right? I got a Dream On layer cake as a birthday present, I drooled over the fabrics and colors, the quilt-along started at the beginning of November and...
I made one block.
Then promptly fell behind, as one does when you have eleventy-billion papers and projects to grade at the end of the semester and no time to sew.
But now! Oh, the excitement!
We're between semesters, and I actually have time to spend in my sewing room! I've been sewing away on Zoe's pinwheel quilt, and it's been a nice break to work on catching up on the quilt-along.
I decided the first order of business was to jump ahead to Block 5, the most recently posted (click for a bigger view):
I like how this one turned out--but all those seams makes for a tough block! And then this morning I finished Block 2:
I am so pleased with how this block came together--the points are quite good, for me (the HST practice from the pinwheel quilt paid off!), and the colors are fun, and I used a couple charm squares and a scrap from block 1 for the green sections, which saved me two layer cake squares.
Now I'm only two blocks behind! Isn't it exciting?
Your version of block two is the best one I have seen! It is perfecto!
ReplyDeleteI had an interesting time with this most recent one. It has some cool possibilities though so I am going to make another one and rearrange it.
Ahh, those are really pretty! Motivation to keep going? I bet it feels good to get back in your sewing room, enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful blocks with lovely fabrics. I can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteYour points are amazing! I'm with Julie, I can't wait to see more!
