Finish! Blue Canary (Sliced Coins Quilt-Along)

Amazing! I actually finished a quilt-along, on time!

Blue Canary, on the rails

The Sliced Coins quilt-along was really a lot of fun, and I'm coming in just at the deadline, here, but I finished it! I present (and as always, click for bigger photos):

Blue Canary--complete!

48" x 48"
Fabric: Wildflowers by Heather Mulder Peterson
Batting: Warm & White
Quilted by me with variegated coffee-colored thread in a meandering loopy pattern

I was pretty excited to be able to finish this as quickly as I did! The quilting took me most of last week Sunday afternoon, and it was my first time free-motion quilting anything bigger than a placemat. I have some tension issues and I can already tell it's going to take some significant practice to get my stitches more even, but all in all, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

I'll warn you now, I'm going to link up all over--I'll add buttons below as I do!

  4. Oh, it's beautiful! I've never seen one like it, with the varying rectangles.

I feel rather silly for asking, but why is this called "sliced coins"?

  9. Ooh, that's lovely. The quilting is really gorgeous. I love how it's all loops and whirls, while the patchwork is all straight lines. It works so well.

(I was going to ask about the 'sliced coins' as well, but Tracie beat me to it ;))
